Jessica Christensen & Scott Pharr

Our Story

A little over 2 years ago, I saw a picture of Jess on my cousin Erica's MySpace page and sent Erica a message saying "Who is the girl with the amazing smile? She is beautiful!" After a few emails between Erica and myself, Jessica posted a message that said "Hey Erica tell your cousin if he wants to flirt with me he can just add me" so I did, and Jess took over!
I quickly realized that Jess was quite the charmer and the most caring, sweet, and overall amazing girl I had ever met. As we grew closer and closer the trips from Phoenix back to Michigan City became more frequent, and leaving grew harder and harder. We both knew what we wanted from each other and knew our day would come, but I needed to move back home to make all of our dreams our reality!
October 2009 I was on the road, heading to Indianapolis. Jess and I spent the next 3 months logging many, many miles back and forth every week. It was an early test of our relationship to make sure we were each willing to make the sacrifices it would take in order to make this work and we did, and it did.
One morning on a trip up to Michigan City, I went to breakfast at our favorite place, Sophia's with her mom (Nancy), sister (Natalie), and brother (Jared), and asked them a "hypothetical" question. Ha-ha.... I asked the family permission to propose and they were ecstatic, which made everything so much easier.
Shopping for the right ring was so tough, because I knew that Jess would love anything I picked out, but I wanted to make sure it would be one she would love forever!!! Thank God for Teresa!!! She helped me out a lot! At one point I called her 4 times within about 20 minutes, she was great! Her whole family was extremely supportive and helpful as I planned out the proposal. With their help, I decided to hide the ring box in the Christmas tree, at her Mom's house, where she had spent every Christmas of her life...The place were she had so many Christmas day memories, and I wanted to make sure that this too would forever be one of those memories!
The morning went great! She was stunned, surprised and shocked everyone in her family knew what was happening and she had no clue! It was hands down the BEST Christmas I have ever had, and her saying YES was the best gift I have ever received! The following week we started looking for rental houses so we could take the next step, and we knew it would be an easy transition for us as we had already done so much to get to the "move in" stage. We found a perfect little house out in the country and we made it our own.
We immediately started shopping for our first HOME. Our realtor, Amy Wagner, was so patient and helpful. On Valentines Day, she took us to a house on 112 Valentine Court and as we walked thru the house, I looked back at Jess and she gave me "the look". I knew, at that moment, this house was the one we would try to buy. And try and try we did. Finally, after over 3 months of back and forth we closed on the house on June 3, 2010.
We had done it, we had come full circle and after I had been away from Michigan city for 20 years, she brought me back home. To OUR home, built with love.

Our Wedding

October 23, 2010 is a day to celebrate the bond we have built with our family and friends. We have chosen a traditional Catholic ceremony at Queen of All Saints in Michigan City.

Our Reception

The dinner reception is being held in The Orleans Ballroom at The Blue Chip Casino Resort and Spa. They have the best chef's on the planet, and we are going to have an amazing meal capped off with a night of cocktails and dancing to celebrate our day! We hope you can make it!!!
