Fernandina Beach - Florida We managed to skip town for our birthdays. Mine - Feb 25 and Michael's March 3. Visiting my Aunt Hortensia (Tencha) and Uncle Charlie at their home in Fernandina Beach, Florida. (Uncle Charlie was in Washington visiting Harry and Christina) Honestly, not a bad place to hang out in February. The sun was shining and it was perfectly warm without being too hot. Now Michael had recently undergone a total knee replacement on Feb. 2nd. So we were taking it pretty easy. No long romantic walks on the shifting beach sands...though we did manage a short one. :) The evening of March 2nd, We were going out to dinner to the Salty Pelican with Aunt Tencha. I was fixing my hair and they're rushing me because, "It will be a beautiful sunset tonight", endearing idea but it should have been my first clue. Aunt Tencha dropped Michael and me off at the pier just in time to catch the sunset. As the sun began to sink behind the boats, I climbed up on the bench...short people problems, Lol. Michael touched me and I turned around to hear him say, "This works out perfectly. Now I don't have to get down on one knee." He pulled out a little treasure chest box that Joey had told him to use and asked me to marry him. I had notified my Maid of Honor, Amanda, and my Mom and Dad before we even ate dinner. There was much drinking, congratulating, and merriment. |
