Bride

Alastair and I had been doing a long-distance relationship for a few months since I left Nashville. It was finally Thanksgiving break , so I was excited for him to spend a couple days in Dallas with me.  I had been bothering him for about two weeks about buying a plane ticket before it got too late, but all he would say is "Don't worry baby...I'll be there". Being a woman, of course I couldn't let it go, and I constantly kept asking and begging that he buy his ticket before he ended up spending more money than anticipated. I just couldn't imagine spending another month without seeing each other. Eventually, I just let it go and prayed that he had a plan.

Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I called him to give my nightly "goodnight" , but at 10pm I could hear the sound of a car engine in the background. "What are you up to?", I asked in a curious tone. "Oh nothing baby, just riding around town right", he replied hesitantly. The fact that it was a weekday and he was just "riding around time" with no specific plans sounded too weird. He then told me that he would call me back in a couple hours once he got home. A couple hours later, he calls me and I could still here a car running! I just couldn't believe he was still out on the town for no apparent reason. I then blurted out, "Are you DRIVING to Texas in the middle of the night?!?". He laughed and said "No baby, I just left James' (his best man) house, and I'm headed home now. Of course, I didn't believe that. No way. I had a gut feeling he was driving down to see me, but of course I wanted to believe that he wouldn't be lying about this.  Wednesday morning however, I was awakened by someone leaning over me, kissing me gently on my forehead. IT WAS ALASTAIR! He drove 10+ hours from Nashville to Dallas in the middle of the night to "surprise me"! This is why I love him.....

Thanksgiving morning is a morning I will never forget. The night before was a long night, so I was NOT getting out of bed anytime soon. I could feel Alastair moving alot in the bed and wondered why he was up so early. Then, I could feel him play with and hold my hand, but shortly after, I was right back asleep. Not sure how many minutes later, I wake up feeling as if someone was staring me. I see Alastair looking right at me bedside just smiling soooo hard. I looked at him confused, but as I went to wipe the crust from my eyes, I see the most GORGEOUS thing hugging my finger, THE ENGAGEMENT RING. "I love you Angel, soooo much. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me baby??".  OF COURSE, I say yes! I was in shock for HOURS that day. Everything felt so surreal. Once again, catching me completely off-guard. He told me he would never propose on a holiday. But he knew how much I loved surprises and that week, I experienced the most surprises I had all year. Thanksgiving 2013 is a day I will NEVER forget.....
