Bride

We met in college 10 years ago through a mutual friend, Matt Miller.  I went to Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY and Nick attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.  One summer day Matt told me he had someone he wanted me to meet.  Of course I thought, sure whatever, but I was open.  One day while at the swimming pool with my dear friend Danielle, Matt and this very tall, handsome guy joined us.  Of course that guy was Nick.  We chatted for a bit while we sat on the side of the pool.  He asked if he could call me later, I said no.  It wasn’t that I didn’t think he was attractive, I could just tell he was a ladies man.  Nick was smooth, suave and had a way with words and I thought, NO WAY. Later that night the 4 of us met at Denny’s.  He asked again for my number and I said no at first but eventually I gave in.  After that night we dated long distance for about a year, traveling back and forth in our hooptie cars trying to get to one another, snow, rain or shine.  Soon the distance would prove to be too much for two college students with millions of distractions.  Nick was an athlete and active in his fraternity and I was a bookworm and a workaholic.

Fast forward 9 years, I began to receive inbox messages on my Facebook from Nick checking in on me.  Every now and then he would mention that he wanted to meet, maybe for dinner or lunch.  I would politely decline; thinking he probably still had that ladies’ man swag.  In Spring/Summer 2013,  Nick reached out again and this time I thought, why not. It’s just lunch and I could use some time away.  So, I headed to Chicago. I fell in love that weekend all over again and on the drive back home, September 7th, 2013, I knew the Lord had blessed me with the one.

Now let me tell the real story. So, April left out a couple things with the swiming pool story. You know how little boys and girls mess with each other when they like someone. Like April said before, I was a athlete (Football) so I had a couple muscles here and there. So, while April and I sat on the side of the pool she kept trying to feel my biceps and when I wouldn't let her (because I didn't know her like that) she would splash water in my face.

Now the Denny's story is a little similar to April's however, I remember Danielle and April calling Matt to see if we wanted to go somewhere to eat. Now I'm no rocket scientist or nothing but I believe someone was a little interested in Nick. (First feeling on my biceps and now you want to eat at 1am in the morning) So I went to Denny's...because I was hungry, don't get me wrong April was cute and all. While at Denny's April and I conversed somemore (I was pulling out all the mack lines). And then I asked her did she know why the sky was so dark that night and she said, why? I said, because all the stars are in your eyes. Right after that I asked for the number again and she said no. So I figured that line didn't work.  I pulled out my last line of tricks, I pulled my cell phone out my pocket and gave it to her and told her to keep it...I'll call you. And that's how it all started.....I think
